Andreasstrasse, Zurich Oerlikon

Andreasstrasse, Zürich Oerlikon, Fischer Architekten AG Zürich

In the development area Zurich Nord, between Oerlikon train station and Leutschenbach, an office block was to be newly planned and designed within the volume of an existing building. A lightwell provided the solution found for the extreme building depth.

Andreasstrasse along the striking railway embankment in the development area around Thurgauerstrasse was to be upgraded as a connection between Oerlikon train station and the new Leutschenbach-Quartier. The task involved the redesign of the project within a given building volume.

The building’s longitudinal orientation is a response to the dominant train line. Access is from Andreasstrasse. The core of the building is the internal courtyard, whose entire length and height can be experienced throughout the building. The courtyard facade has full height glazing which underlines the intended interaction between courtyard and offices.

This project is from the oeuvre of Leuner & Zampieri (1990–2000).
